Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 29, 2005 Mike from OZ I bought an Asus A8N-SLI mb, and two sticks of VS5123200. They came in separate packets. SO are they exactly matched? Or will I have to hunt down a 1gigkit of the same (VS5123200) RAM? As long as they are the exact same part# they should be fine, but you could have got our VS1GBKit400 set of modules to be sure. Oh, and seeing as I’m a complete noob, and only acting on what other people tell me, (ie. go dual channel!) WHAT are the benefits of dual channeling? Just makes stuff go faster, right? ermm,,, help! Yes, basically, but please watch the Memory Basics Presentation. That will help you understand how this works.
Fenriss
the VS512MB400 wont work w/ a A8N-SLI Deluxe? i have a A8n-SLI deluxe and the VS1GBKIT400. one VS512MB400 in A1 and another in B1. had it for 2 months. it worked so well that i decided to forgo ungrading to TCCD's and got another 1 GB set. so now my A8n-SLI mobo has 2 GB's w/ all 4 mem banks filled. it benches and games w/out any issue. apopilot
Gentleman, This thread might help me make my decision. I am purchasing a A8N-SLI. I would like to go with the TWINX1024-3200LLPRO model. This of course is 1GB of RAM. Will this work with the ASUS board. The other question I have is should I spend this much on RAM or go with 2GB of value RAM? I am having a tough time making the decision for MEMORY. What is the best solution for this board, both in 1GB and 2GB memory. ONE MORE THING. How is this memory?TWINX2048-3200PRO
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 30, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 30, 2005 I am sorry but your question is a bit to vague to answer. But I will try, for best performance I would suggest Twinx1024-3200XL or the Pro version if you want the activity LED's. Value Select would offer good performance at a great price, But I would suggest our Twinx1024-3200XL modules hands down with this MB. But if you need 2.0 Gig of memory for best performance I would go with Twinx2048-3200C2 or for the best Value Our VS2GBKit400C3 would offer good performance and a great price. WOLF359
ASUS A8N SLI dlx Rev. 1.02 Bios 1006 Doing RTFM style: Page 2-11: Section 2.4.2 Memory Configurations: When using two DDR DIMM modules, install into DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 slots only. Done it with 2 VS512MB400. Works. Displays as Dual Channel. Settings at 1st set to all auto. Now set to 2.5-3-3-5 at 1T. Memtest: 8h stable, 0 errors prime95: 24h stable, 0 errors Now running for 2 weeks without any errors. Just rebooting to test other bios settings. I would consider ASUS A8N SLI dlx with VS512MB400 as working together. There were absolutely no tweaks or else to do to get the mobo running with this memory. Just built my system around this board with these same sticks and an Athlon 64 4000+. The work perfectly as the quoted poster states on my rig. GG Corsair! apopilot
Ok, the 1GB kit has a latency of 2-2-2-5. The 2GB kit has a latency of 3-3-3-8. I want the pro modules with activity LED's. I am not the type of person who overclocks. Frankly, I do not understand latency. Is this going to be a big difference in my gaming? The price on ZipZoomFly where I purchase everything is $306 for the 1GB kit and then $349 for the 2GB kit. I think its a no brainer really? What do you folks think? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 1, 2005 Any of these modules would run great in that MB, but for best performance I would suggest Twinx1024-3200XL
