Zappo
System: AMD Athlon 3000 (barton) Albatron KX18D Pro II nForce 2 SPP TWINX1024-3200LLPT Timings : 2-3-2-6 DDR Voltage: 2.7 System was working fine for about 3 weeks and then one day the computer started to reboot every time windows is about to load. I tried to reinstall windows but this is now impossible, sometimes I recieve errors of reading files, and sometimes it bluescreens with a stop: 0x8E I gave up running Memtest86+ on both modules when the second module failed every part of test 2 for 5 hours, 100,000+ errors was enough to convince me something was wrong with it. Running Memtest86+ with just the one module it said there were no errors, but I still have not been able to install XP again, I get a new error every time I try, such as fastfat.sys is corrupt, and stop : 0x8e bluescreens. All information I can find on these errors suggests bad memory modules as a possible cause. Where do I go from here?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 30, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 30, 2004 Can you tell me the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Zappo
The FSB is at 200 MHz, the motherboard defaulted the multiplier to 10.5 so the CPU is running at 2100 but the specs on it rate it for 2200. All bios settings are set as default/optimal for my motherboard: FSB [200] DDR:CPU ratio [by spd] DDR Speed [400] Timings [Optimal] Tras [6] Trcd [3] Trp [2] CAS [2.0] FSB Spread Spectrum [0.50%] CPU voltage [1.65] DDR voltage [2.7] memtest update: The one module that isn't completely unfunctioning failed test 6 at the same memory address 22 times out of 80 so far. I'm going to stop running memtest.
