A8N-SLI-deluxe nforce4 with corsair VS...

Hello,

I'm going to buy a comp with the new A8N SLI deluxe nforce4 mobo. With that I am going to get 4x 512 mb of "Corsair VS512MB400 Value Select 2x512Mb (tot. 1024Mb/1Gb) Dual DDR PC3200 400MHz 184pin Unbuffered CL2.5"... First of all, do you think this is a good memory choice?

Second, I don't really understand what it says on the Qualified vendors list at asus.com. If I got right, which I dont think I have, it says that the mobo would support one memory stick, but not two sticks in dual channel. However, it seems like it supports 4 sticks in dual channel, which is what im getting. So, do you think I'm going to be able to run dual channel and get as much prestanda as possible from this memory when using this mobo? Or have I just understood this whole thing wrong?

Thankful for answers!

Sometimes their RAM QVL tables really ain't up to date.

They really don't test every memory combination.

You should be fine with the 4 sticks. (so they say).

Word of caution: 4 512 sticks of the VS 400 may all be different.

You may have better luck getting 2 VS kits.

Although each kit may different IC's.

You should eally have 4 of the same "exact" sticks.

Yeah alright, thanks!

On the webpage where I'm buying from it says this: "Corsair VS512MB400 Value Select 2x512Mb (tot. 1024Mb/1Gb) Dual DDR PC3200 400MHz 184pin Unbuffered CL2.5" So it comes in double packs, but since Im going to buy 2 of those double packs, how can I make sure to get the exact same ram?

Well I would suggest Twinx1024-3200XL modules with this MB for best performance. However, VS1GBKit400 should be compatible and run with out problems in this MB. And I would not suggest 4 modules, instead if you want 2.0 Gig of memory I would suggest Twinx2048-3200C2 for best performance!
