goppers
Here's what I'm running: MB i875P|5P1A6D GA-8KNXP P4 3GHz 800 MHz FSB HD 80GB|WD 7200RPM 8MB WD800JB 2x256MBTWINX512-3200LLPT RADEON9800 PRO 128M 8X Antec True430 Here's the problem: I've been using this memory since June of '03 flawlessly. Just a couple days ago i was listening to music on my computer and the screen went black and the music shut off. No matter how many times i restarted, I got no picture. I began testing different components to see what the problem might be; harddrive, video card, etc. When I took out one sitck of the memory I got the computer to boot up but only to freeze shortly after. When I took out the other stick I still got nothing. Any thoughts, sounds like a memory problem to me. Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 Well that would be one explaination, but with what you have posted that would also suggest some other problem as well. Can you test the modules in another system and I would set the timings manually to Cass 2-3-2-6 at 2.7 Volts with the Rass to Cass set to "3" then please use http://www.memtest.org to test them. It would be really hard to get 2 modules fail at the same time, and if both modules did indeed fail I would suspect some other impending problem that caused the failure. goppers
Thanks for the reply. Ok, the problem with trying these things you say is that I don't see any picture on the monitor when i boot up. Every so often I will see the Booting prossess begin when switching the memory sticks around or even taking one out, but then it freezes right away. I personally do not have enough hardware around here to test these sticks in another computer. I fiddled with some of the other components and they don't seem to be causing the problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 Can a friend maybe help you test the modules in another system? That would help isolate the memory from your system?
