jsklone
Hello, I currently have two modules of XMS3700v1.1 ( CMX512 -- 3700PT ) and as i ran memtest i got numerous errors. So i tested it with two different motherboards : - Asus A7N8X Deluxe REV2.0 BIOS 1008 (CPU Installed Barton 3200+) - Asus A7N8X-VM/400 BIOS 1003 (CPU Installed Athlon 2400+) The tests showed that only one stick was guilty. Could you advice me on this problem ?
Jabberwok
Hi jsklone. If you swap those DIMMs around, does the guilty DIMM move as well?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 And what were the settings you had set for each system for both CPU and memory?
jsklone
First time, I tested the two sticks were installed . Later i tested them separately. As a result, only one module appeared to be defective. the settings : - Asus A7N8X Deluxe REV2.0 BIOS 1008 (CPU Installed Barton 3200+) all auto , but frequency 133 Mhz (200Mhz never worked) - Asus A7N8X-VM/400 BIOS 1003 (CPU Installed Athlon 2400+) all auto
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 31, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 31, 2004 With your A7N8X-E Deluxe, please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/Optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3700 CPU Freq: 200 MHz (400 FSB) System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 200 MHz (400 FSB) Memory Timing: User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
jsklone
i do not have an A7N8X-E Deluxe but an A7N8X Deluxe . The settings, you've just suggested were already provided by corsair on a previous contact but i couldn't get it to work properly ( the motherboard won't even boot ). i've already done memtests overnight with each module and i got the results i listed before.
