asat772002
I have an Athlon 64 3400 with a MSI K8N-NEO FSR mobo and I can not get the vs512mb400 to work by it self. It won't even give me the bios screen when installed in any slot, however when I put in with my crucial 256mb ddr266 the system will boot flawlessly. Afterwards I run memtest and it finds no errors. I'm out of ideas. Please help.
Wired
when mixed, does it recognize both sticks in the bios? It may just be the slot you're putting it in, some boards will only boot with memory in a particular slot.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 28, 2004 I would try and clear the bios with just our module installed and see if the system will post!
asat772002
Cleard the bios, and same problem still persists.
asat772002
Ok, tried to Clear it again, and the module would register on bootup now. I must not of cleared it properly. However, I now get the dreaded blue screen of death when Windows boots up.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 I would try and load setup/Optimized defaults in the bios setup and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and then please test it with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. If you do get errors then lets get that module replaced. Please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Warranty@corsairmemory.com. Or you can also use the On Line RMA Request Form as well. If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to rma@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it. asat772002
Ok, loaded optimized defaults, tried kicking the voltage up to 2.7, and there was no change. Ran memtest again and found no errors. However, I found if I lower the mhz to 166 it will boot flawlessly. Now when I try to put it back to 200mhz I no longer get the blue screen on bootup, but the computer will reset it self after the windows loading screen. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 What slots do you have the modules in and do you have a socket 754 or 939 MB?
asat772002
I have the module in slot 3 and it's a Socket 754.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 29, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 29, 2004 Can you try it in slot 1?
asat772002
Tried in slot 1 and the bios screen will freeze when it gets to the memory information section. Could this possibly be a power problem?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 30, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 30, 2004 It could be Power, bad MB, bad CPU, or even bad memory; the only way to find the problem is to do a trial and error on your system or if you have a friend that accepts DDR modules, then I will suggest testing the modules on his system, and seeing if the system can at least post. This will give you an answer on whether the memory module that you have is bad, or some other issues!
