AX1200i : molex cable fried out

Recommended Posts

First of all, sorry for my English, I usually speak in French.

My titles says everything: one of my molex cable fried out, into one of my AX1200i slot. I'm not an expert, so I need some advices here.

I recently bought 3 R9 290 graphic cards and a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 mobo. Because of the lack of distance between each PCI-Express slots, I bought some powered riser cables 16x to 16x. Of course, I plugged their molex, thinking I was doing the right thing... but maybe not... since one of my molex cable fried out...

I know that three R9 290 graphics cards draw a lot of power, but why is it even happening?

Now, my beautiful AX1200i has an unusable slot... because plastic melted in there. Do I need to double check my PSU? I want to be sure everything is fine... Do I need to RMA it? Is it even normal to burn like that? For that kind of unit, I thought I was "safe".

Do I need to check the mobo? or my GPUs? I'm a little lost here...

Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!
