sabaoth
hi, i was curious if some Corsair XMS PC4400 ram would work with my mobo here... its a MS-6741 made by MSI... ive seen that the recommended is PC3200 for this particular setup, but would PC4400 work with it? specs: MSI MS-6741 ( http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8TM-ILSR&class=mb ) AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0Ghz 512 MB Samsung PC3200 DDR400 DIMM (i dont guess that should really matter as i would take that out...) ATI Radeon X800 XT PE 600W Ultra PSU help would be muchly appreciated :):
Wired
Yes, but no. You can slap it in there, but because the FSB is at most 400 Mhz you'll ahve to run the memory at that speed as well.
sabaoth
ah, i see... the ram can only go so fast as the FSB... my FSB should be 1600 Mhz though, as it is a Athlon 64 3200+... im confused... :sigh!:
Wired
It's really a 400 Mhz Mhz FSB with quantispeed architecture (or is that the intel name for it?). Either way, it uses PC3200 memory.
sabaoth
aight, thx... lol, i also just found the thing on here that recommends ram for a particular mobo... so i put that in there, followed a link to zipzoomfly, and now a twin pack of XMS PC3200 xtra low latency jazz is on its way to my door... i guess that i would only want PC4400 if i were to overclock the stuffz in this thing... thx again!
