Memory failure, RMA required please...

Recommended Posts

System suffers from random reboots. Both of the 512MB modules in the TwinX1024 kit have been tested separately using Windows Memory Tester in the non-dual channel configuration, one of the 512MB (CMX512-3200LLPT) modules fails the majority of the diagnostic tests (extended tests for over 6 passes).

RAM Kit purchased from Overclockers UK in October 2003, is the module covered by lifetime warranty? And if so, as this is a TwinX matched pair kit, would I have to return both modules or just the faulty one?

Best regards,

PLANAR: Asus P4C800-e BIOS 1019

RAM: Corsair Platinum Series TwinX1024 - 3200LLPT v1.2

CPU: Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8Ghz

HDD: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 SATA 120GB x2

SFX: Echo MIA 24.96

OS: Windows XP Professional w/SP2

Please try and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts and disable legacy USB in the bios and then test the module with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. If you still get errors with that module, please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Warranty@corsairmemory.com. Or you can also use the On Line RMA Request Form as well.

If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to rma@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it.

  • 1 month later...

I recently received my replacement memory from Corsair (overall being in the UK meant that my machine was out of action for sometime).

After testing the replaced memory with memtest86 diagnostics I found that one of the pair was faulty (almost fails every part of the test). Wonderful!

In the end I decided to purchase new memory from elsewhere...
