mazdaspeed82
Couple years ago I bought a value select 512mb kit from Fry's, worked wonderfully in my abit board. The bios crapped out on me. I had some spare intel parts lying around, friend lent me a Matsonic motherboard. The memory would Not run in dual channel on that board, Only 3 dimm slots on the board, tried every combination I could think of, BUT at least the machine works with that memory in it. I upgraded to an Albatron PX865PE Pro II, With the memory in that board, the machine wont even post. Upgraded Again to an Abit IC7-G, Same issue; Will not Post. Last week I built a machine around the MSI neo2 Platinum board.... you guessed it ;) Will not Post. The memory runs fine in the little intel Matsonic system, no clue why it wont on any other system. On every board I've had, the tech support guys from the board always said the same thing, flash your bios, and i've always had the same result :( is RMA my only option? Frys return policy is only 15 days on memory.

mazdaspeed82
3000+ Winchester, fsb is stock at 9 x 200. Just the fact that this is the second board that has had major problems with this memory makes me wonder... both different manufacturers, one intel one amd, neither of them overclocked. The MSI board has a diagnostic light stick thing on the back, it hangs at the Memory check light. This was the same with my previous 2 boards; I can boot with 1 stick of memory in, I can boot with the other stick in, but if I try with Both in, forget about it :( edit: this person is having a similar issue. http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33754
CMC_SAVAGE
this person is having a similar issue Way different hardware. Don't even look at that..........LOL. Check the RAM with Memtest.
mazdaspeed82
Do I check it one stick at a time? That's all I can get the pc to post with. 2 Sticks are a no-go, acts like I have a bad stick of ram or ram in the wrong slot (but I dont). 1 Stick will post, load windows, etc etc etc.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2004 Yes, please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org, and if you find you have a failing module, please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Warranty@corsairmemory.com. Or you can also use the On Line RMA Request Form as well. If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to rma@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it. But with this MB and of you have a 90nm CPU you may need to get the latest beta bios to solve this.
mazdaspeed82
out of curiosity I dug my old abit nf7-s rev2 / barton 2500+ box out of the closet, put this memory back in (this is what I was using with it originally in dual channel mode), and basically configured it the way it was when I was using it regularly (except the cdrom). Knowing that this memory worked in the system before, you would think if it's a bios/mobo/cpu problem with my current setup that it would work in the abit board. It doesnt. Same issue. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 28, 2004 In the NF7-S with a 2500+ you would need to set the memory Frequency at DDR333, unless you are over clocking your CPU. But I would test the modules one at a time if you have not done so and lets make sure one is not failing. However, I have no problem replacing your modules if you want to try that.
