EEM
I have Twinx CMX512 3200 C2PT XMS 512 MB 400 MHz CL2 RAM that is not working properly. My system shuts down randomly when I use these modules. When I use the CMX 256 A 2700 LLPT Twinx the system seems to run perfectly. My system is as follows. Athlon 3200 Barton 13 micron processor MSI K7N2 delta platinum mainboard WD 36 gig 10000rpm hard drive. 350 watt PSU ATI all in wonder 9600 xt video. I have run the memtest program and found errors in both modules separately and together. With one of the modules I had trouble getting the system to boot. It was having trouble getting through the post and failed the basic memory test. I am using the bios settings of CAS 3 3 3 3 8. Voltage 2.75 with the video voltage set at 1.6. These settings are very conservative and do not justify the extra bucks I shelled out for the xms ram.
CMC_SAVAGE
When I use the CMX 256 A 2700 LLPT Twinx the system seems to run perfectly. Are you mixing the RAM?
EEM
The short answer to your question is no. However, the last time I put in a stick of 2700 and 3200 by mistake. I ran mem check over night with no errors and I am not getting the random system locks with the mixed sticks at 166 spd my bios automaticly set the CAS at 2 2 2 5. So I am assuming that the other stick of 3200 is the bad boy but it could also be that it will run ok at 333 but not at 400mhz. Also, I have flashed the latest bios with no change in performance. EEM
I ran the memtest+ at the setting you suggested and found many errors. Just for fun I put the stick in another slot with the same results, the bottom of the screen turned red.
