polux
Hi, Hum...I'm french, so, sorry for my english. I have 2x512 3200xl and since is on my motherboard (Asus A7N8X-E deluxe), my winXP pro freeze 1 or 2 minutes at boot just before softs run automatically. (timings 2-2-2-5) I tested this module in dual channel with memtest 3.2 and in all pass there is errors on test 4. I think one or the two modules are bad. Thank you for your help. ;) Under : The same text in french if somebody speak french. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 23, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 23, 2004 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Thanks for your quick help ;): Let's go. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 25, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 25, 2004 Please try these settings and test the system with http://www.memtest.org Bios settings: CPU external frequency: 166Mhz CPU frequency multiple : 11 System performance: user defined CPU interface: Optimal Memory frequency: 100% (166Mhz) Resulting frequency: 166Mhz Memory timings: Optimal SDRAM active precharge delay : 5 SDRAM ras to cas delay: 2 SDRAM ras precharge delay: 2 SDRAM cas latency: 2 CPU vcore setting: auto CPU Vcore : 1.650v DDR reference voltage: 2.8v If this setting will pass http://www.memtest.org then I would suspect that maybe your CPU is topping out, but you can try and add a little more voltage to the CPU and memory and lower your multiplier to as well as you might try the FSB Jumper set to pins 2-3 furthest away from the CPU and then go to bios setup and load setup defaults and set the original settings you had set but set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and set the Rass to Cass to "3" Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! polux
Hello RamGuy, When i tested the modules with memtest the DDR voltage was set to 2.6v. I thought the SPD automatically put the DDR with the good voltage. I re-tested with this bios settings : CPU external frequency : 200Mhz CPU frenquency multiple : 9,5 System performance : user defined CPU interface : Optimal Memory frequency : 100% (200Mhz) Resulting frequency : 200Mhz Memory timings : Optimals SDRAM active precharge delay : 5 SDRAM ras to cas delay : 2 SDRAM ras precharge delay : 2 SDRAM cas latency : 2 CPU vcore setting : auto CPU Vcore : 1.650v DDR reference voltage : 2.7v And after 11 pass of memtest there were no errors. The modules seems to be good. I always have the problem when WinXP boot. That occurs after having installed Kerio personnal firewall or Kaspersky antivirus. Bizar. Modify values of bios does not change anything. Remove softs does not change anything to. :sigh!: I will continue to seek where is the problem. Thanks for your help RamGuy, especially in this period of the year. Carry well an happy new year.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 28, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 28, 2004 You might try and set the Rass to Cass to "3" and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and see if that helps!
Jabberwok
Bonjour polux.
polux
You might try and set the Rass to Cass to "3" and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and see if that helps! I found the problem. At boot of winXP, the DHCP tried to allot an IP to the Marvell Gigabit ethernet card, but did not arrive there. That blocked the PC during one or two minutes. I desactivated the ethernet card in WinXP and now the PC boot normally. I will test the modules once again, but I think it's OK. :D: Still thank you RamGuy. A+ peut-etre.
