Exidrial
Hello there, I am using the Carbide 500R.I have two intake fans in the front and 1 outtake fan in the back.I have the H100i GTX installed at the top with fans as intakes.I removed the side fan. I am thinking about buying a hybrid GPU but am wondering where I could place the Radiator. Is it possible to mount its Radiator in the front? Does anybody have experience with this? Corsair Wizard
It definitely is possible to mount the radiator to the front (if you have the space too). Ideally it would be best to mount the radiator to the top since hot air physically rises. If this may help the tubing length is 15", just make sure the H100i GTX will reach your motherboard and to the front of your case.
Exidrial
Thank you for your help.I think I will consult the manual to get more details on how to mount a radiator in the front. I already have the h100i installed at the top as an intake.I was wondering about the radiator of Hybrid GPUs.
Corsair Employees Corsair Nick Posted February 26, 2016 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 26, 2016 That would depend on the size of the radiator for the GPU. You can run either a 120mm or 240mm radiator with the 500R.
Exidrial
I have only seen Hybrid GPUs with 120mm Radiators. Can you explain where/how you would install a 120mm radiator in the front? Either there wasn't a manual with the case or I misplaced it.I can only find the Quickstart Guide but it doesn't say anything about mounting a Radiator in the front. Looking at the Tech sheet on your side it says that you can install a 120/240mm Radiator in the front.I apologize for not checking it out first. Corsair Employees Corsair Nick Posted February 28, 2016 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 28, 2016 No problem. You'll need to remove one of the drive cages and mount the 120mm radiator in place of it. Radiator can be in either location depending on where your card is inside the case and how long the coolant lines are.
leahd4
iff its the 120MM why dont mount the gpu rad on the bottom?? u have filter on the bottom and i thinbk u have enought clearence from the psu cables no?
Exidrial
I already have 4 intake fans.Don't you think a 5th intake fan would be too much? Well ok I still have the mesh on the side panel which is great for positive air pressure but I dunno.Would it introduce turbulences?
leahd4
i dont think so. IMO u can get ( i have it the same) 2 ffront 1 bot and 1 side as intake rear and top as exaust. i have nice slight positive airfflow ( ffront hdd cage do restrict u somehow) case stay fairly clean and ultra quite even with the ski 970 i have. paully
Would your Hybrid radiator not work on the back? I have a 300R case with a H100i radiator slung inside the case with two Noctua fans below that. If I had mounted the fans outside the case, there should be enough depth for a Hybrid GPU radiator. If I had done that, I would still have the H100i fans blowing in and your Hybrid fan blowing out. Even though heat rises, with all the fans we have in our cases, rising heat is immaterial. I'm considering a Hybrid GPU for myself. I'd love to know what you decided and how it works out. Exidrial
I have removed the stock side fan because I do not want air coming in from the side. I have 2 Static Pressure fans in the front as intake, two static pressure fans in the top as intake(h100i gtx) and the stock 500r exhaust fan in the back. The mesh is great for letting air go out of the case.Putting an intake fan at the side would probably just disturb the airflow. I can not mount the Radiator in the back because of the h100i gtxs tubing. The way the 500r is set up the tubes come down in the back and are extremely close to the back fan. They are almost touching it.If you don't know what I mean just look at some pictures of the 500r.You'll understand once you see. Whether you place the Radiator in the front or on the bottom would probably make no difference I think I'll go with whatever I think looks better. I will let you know once I have the card. That should be this month.
leahd4
awsome though take in mind that if the gpu rad is thick u can get a push pull config prob if u mount in on the front that way u can run the fans for that rad fairly quiet ( 50% both) and enjoy a supreme cooloing:P
