not trying to hijack this thread, but hopefully this helps the OP as well...

my x58 is an Asus Rampage III Formula with an i7-950 and 6GB of old but excellent XMS3 running at 1600MHz with tight 7-7-7-20 timings.

i decided against going with 6 sticks to get to 12GB, as i'm already OC'ed and would rather not have to jack up that QPI voltage to run 6 sticks at 1600MHz.

instead, looking forward to a Skylake build, i would like to find a low voltage DDR3L kit that will work with a Bloomfield. this Vengeance kit is extremely nice, but the Corsair website says it's only backward compatible with 5th, 4th, and 3rd gen intel CPU's, while Asus says there's a 50/50 chance it might work on an x58.

i would absolutely LOVE to buy a Skylake compatible DDR3L 4 module kit and run 3 of those in triple channel on my x58. would hate to be the lab rat here and deal with returns if it doesn't work. can ANYBODY confirm that this can be done?
