CPU fan error

I have installed a H110i GTX on an Asus X99-A with the i7 5820k. The pump unit is frimly bedded on the processor and most lines are connected to the fans, motherboard and psu. There is a single line from the pump with a fan-type connector that is not mentioned in the quick start guide. The radiator fans are running very noisily and the BIOS gives the CPU fan error on starting with the processor temperature rising quickly. There is some warming of one hose from the pump unit. Have tried both PWM and DC modes. Any advice on how to proceed is welcome.

Your kit should come with a 4 conductors Y-fan-connector-cable. Connect the 2 radiator fans to the Y cable which in turn is connect to the 4-pin CPU Fan header on the motherboard. It will allow the motherboard BIOS to control the fan speed according the CPU temperature. Check with your MB manufacturer on how to customize the control temperature range. Corsair includes PWM (pulse width modulation) fans in their kit. It is the most efficient way for fan control.

The pump header connector is a cooling fan type 3-pin connector. Connect it to any SYSFAN 3-pin header on the MB to provide power to the pump. Otherwise, the cooler will not work. The pump runs at constant rpm at full speed. The 3-pin allows the MB to tell you what the pump rpm is, but it is not controllable.

Corsair make excellent kits, but the installation instruction for user left a lot to be desired.

Good luck and see how it works out for you.

Thank you for the info. The H110i differs from previous models in having the control line from the pump connected to USB rather than the usual pins. I have found that a fan is simpler to install and behaves as one would expect.

Are you able to get the radiator fan noise under control by connecting them to the CPUFAN 4-pin header?

You are right about the USB from the water block pump. I am still thinking the old Asetek design, not Cool-It.
