Dustin CLE
Problem: Of four DIMM slots (2 channels, 2 DIMM slots each - primary/secondary) only one of the DIMM from my Corsair kit work in the primary DIMM slots of either channel on my motherboard. If I try putting the good DIMM in any of the secondary DIMM slots, I get post code errors, and if I put the "defective" DIMM in any DIMM slot, I get post code errors as well (code C5). Putting the good DIMM in a primary slot and the "defective" DIMM in the corresponding secondary slot, I get a post code error of "01". The only time the computer boots up correctly is with the good DIMM installed in either of the primary DIMM slots. Can I just run the system like this in single channel mode while Corsair replaces my "defective" DIMM? Thanks for your time! :) Code 01: Expand the Xgroup codes locating in physical address 1000:0 Code C5: Call chipset hook to copy BIOS back to E000 & F000 shadow RAM My system specs: Abit AA8 Duramax Intel P4 3.4 2GB Corsair DDR2 Vantec Stealth 420W PSU CoolerMaster Praetorian Case 3 x 36GB WD Raptor SATA 2 x 120GB Seagate SATA LSI Logic MegaRAID SATA150-4 PCI Sapphire Radeon x700 256MB Lite-On DVDrom IDE Sony FDD

Dustin CLE
Thank you for the blazingly fast reply :) Do you think it would be possible for me to return only the defective RAM (I bought a kit)? This is my first DDR2 system and I don't have any spare to run on; I really need to get this system up and running ASAP. Thanks again!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2004 Yes, it should not be a problem with Value Select. Please let me know how you make out when you get the new module!
