error rate .5% Good??

Recommended Posts

Last night I ran a memory testing program and came up with 20 errors on 210 tests.

I cannot recal which program I used to run the test, but each error came up on the same section of ram.

Is this a normal error, or is this a bad module????

Corsair CMX256A-2700C2 0328888

if this is a bad module, can I start the RMA process??

any help would be awsome

thanks

What CPU / FSB / motherboard do you have? What memory timings / voltage is the memory currently set to in the BIOS?

amd athlon 3000+ cpu, 400 mhz fsb soyo dragon plus v 1.0 all timing are automatic and set to auto in bios.

Now, whats interesting is that i have some simple tech ram, that I can run the test on and .. well after 220 + cycles of tests and no errors at all.

The corsair.. gets 10 errors out of 220+.

anyway. I don't know what the deal is. Other than that I've had bad ram before

I think I've ran into more comptuer problems in the last 3 months than ever before. Three bad mobo's two sticks of ddr gone bad, two video cards gone, its just nutzo. This just tops the pudding on the cake.

You might try setting the DDR voltage to 2.7 Volts and test the module again; in addition, from what you have posted I would check for some type of power problem, as that would be most likely with what you have described as far as the problem history.

I am weary on changing these settings, being that I have another stick of the same speed/timing/size that works without errors on the same DIMM slot.

I don't really see any reason to change the settings when one stick works flawlessly, and the other gets errors. ......

But.. if you see this as the ONLY ultimatum, I will.

Well I have no problem replacing your modules, but I would suggest you set the Dim Voltage before you just replace the modules. In addition, with 2 XMS2700C2 modules you should have them in slots 1-3 or 2-3 if you have more than 2 slots and set the timings to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 as well.

If you want to just get them replaced? Please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Warranty@corsairmemory.com. Or you can also use the On Line RMA Request Form as well.

If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to rma@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it.
