Air 540 - Hot Swap Question

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am assembling my Air 540.

I only have an SSD for a boot drive and I placed it in the SSD cage leaving my two HDD trays empty. Do I still plug-in the SATA power and data cable of the two trays to my PSU and MOBO or will this cause an issue or a waste of power?

There is no need to plug those SATA cables into your power supply and motherboard if you are not going to use them. However, they won't draw power either with no device on the other end. In their bundled form, they are easy enough to slip behind the power supply. If you add an HDD in the future or decide to put an SSD in that slot, you can always connect the cables in just a few minutes.
