Dirkbg
I just upgraded a MB from an Asus A7N8X with two CMX256A-3200C2PT and one CMX512-3200C2PT to an Asus A8V Deluxe. The A8V Deluxe appears to support 1, 2, or 4 modules but they must all be the same, so I decided to get another CMX512-3200C2PT to go with my previous 512 stick. When I install them in slots A1 and B1 as the manual says, the system won't post. No vid signal at all, no beeps. Just power lights but no action. When I place both 256 MB sticks in it, it works perfectly. When I place a single 512 MB stick in B1, it works (both). It just appears that the two 512s won't work together. The older XMS512 is version 1.2, and the new one (just got it today from Newegg) is version 4.1. Should there be a problem with these two versions? I'm not sure what to do, the new memory is not defective (it appears) so it's difficult to return it. I set the timing to 2.5 (for AMD) and voltage to 2.7 as I've seen mentioned elsewhere to no avail. I'm stumped... Dirk
Wired
Yes, it does sound like an IC conflict.
