mildocjr
Looking at the specs on the product page, it says the fan control button switches between silent and performance mode. My question is what fan speed percentage does performance mode set the fans at? I have a 980Ti Sea Hawk and it beasts through any game I throw at it with ease, but I started playing Remember Me last night at full settings and I noticed that my GPU exhaust was pretty warm, enough to where I felt uncomfortable about it and checked the temp specs for that specific graphics card. (80C/176F) I have the fan connected to the case fan switch and turn it on when I'm doing anything graphic intensive (relative to the graphics card) but I'm debating on changing the setup to let the Mobo adjust the speed automatically if the case doesn't kick the fans up to 100%. If the case does adjust to 100% then I'll need to look at other options after doing a little more in depth discovery on my potential heat problem. Normally the card runs very cold (20C) so having such a high temp coming off the exhaust is a little alarming to me and the reason I am asking this question. Other games I have played are Ark, Dead Island franchise, Elite Dangerous Elite, Rust, Tropico 5, Hitman Absolution, Portal 1 & 2, Neverwinter, Mirror's Edge, and Anno 2205. These aren't all, but these are games that I know have lot of vertices in their objects or are similar.
Corsair Employees Greybeard Posted January 21, 2016 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 21, 2016 IIRC, the fan controller button is simply a voltage toggle between 7v and 12v. So for performance mode (12v), you just need to find out the fan's rpm at 12v in which will translate to 100% (max) fan speed.
Toha
I'm getting a computer from Ibuypower with a 970 with its own fan on the card itself, with this case since the fan controller is a voltage toggle between 7v and 12v does that mean I have to worry about burning out fans and is there a way to tell what mode the fans are set too through the button? Toasted
You won't be using the fan controller on the case to control the fan on the graphics card. You would use something like MSI Afterburner to control the fan speed on the graphics card. (It will be a different case if your 870 has been fitted with a bracket and a all in one cooler)
