cybrnook
@Technobeard (or anyone who can help) I am dead set on wanting to run 8x8GB of DDR4 Dominator Platinums. But I am finding it very difficult to meet the strick QVL sheet of my Asus X99-E WS (usb3.1) motherboard. It calls specifically for revision 5.29 hynix modules. I keep getting 4.2x. Instead of continually buying and returning (corsair, newegg, micro center). There has to be a better way of identifying the kit I need, especially if compatibility relies on it. I would like 2400's to keep my XMP profile at a bclk of 100. But I am tired of searching and cycling through a couple thousand dollars trying to find this. Anyone can help? Corsair phone support couldn't....
Administrators Technobeard Posted January 20, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 20, 2016 The QVL is only what they tested at that time. It doesn't mean that memory not on that list isn't compatible. There's no way to guarantee which version number you'd get when ordering them anywhere. Have you had any issues when running any memory kit with your CPU / mobo?
cybrnook
Yes, I had blue screen issues with the 2400 4.2X kits. At the time I had a 5.29 4 x 4 GB kit that worked fine. But not knowing what I had, it was returned with the lot (since I really want 8x8) and ever since then I am only finding 4.2X kits, which blue screen me on XMP, even on a bclk of 100 and 2400 mhz. Sometimes the BIOS/UEFI won't even detect the RAM is offering an XMP profile, so it defaults back to 2133. (Again, the 4.2x kits) I have some g.skill in there now with XMP profiles enabled at 2400 and they have been rock solid. But I want those silly light bar kits (which I already have).
