worf105
I have had this PSU for around 6 years now and it has been and still is 100% reliable. The concern I have is its age now and how much life is left in this PSU. I fear that due to old age that the TX850W will go taking some of my system with it or is this rare nowadays? I wont be updating/upgrading my system until at least 2017. Any advice is welcome. worf105
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted January 18, 2016 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2016 Should be fine. When the Corsair engineers determine warranty period, they look at a capacitor life calculation that determines how long the capacitors will function to spec when the PSU is under 24/7 full load at maximum operating temperature. Since nobody is actually using a PSU at full load for 24/7 at 40°C+ temperatures, you can usually double this number. ;) It's more of a CYA thing than anything. That said... the FAN will die before anything else. So just make sure the fan is still working and you'll probably be just fine.
