ConfusedGamer
Hey folks, I was looking to buy a gpu yesterday when I hit a problem. I needed two 6 pin PCI-E ports and only had one available. There's another port on the Corsair CS550M PSU labelled 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU. As far as I'm aware PCI-E and CPU Power ports are totally different and I really don't want to kill a new gpu by plugging it into the wrong port so my question is pretty simple: Is the 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU port on the CS550M actually a 6+2 (i.e 8 pin) PCI-E port and usable as such? Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted January 16, 2016 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 16, 2016 PCIe and CPU are only different on the opposite end of the cable. On the PSU itself they're exactly the same. Half +12V and half ground. They're interchangeable and therefore labeled as such.
ConfusedGamer
Thanks for the response, that's useful info. It's not something I wanted to gamble with as you might imagine. Cheers
