SwordMage
I recently purchased a pair of twin linked CMX512-3200XL memory sticks from you (through zipzoomfly.com) as part of a new system I was building, and have been having various problems with the system since I first put it together. I've narrowed down the possible causes to the RAM, since everything else has been replaced or substituted out for a different part since I originally put together the system, leaving only the RAM and CPU untouched. The system specs are as follows: MSI K8N Neo Platinum 1024 MB RAM (Corsair TwinX CMX512-3200XL) AMD Athlon 64 3200+ BFG Technologies 6800 Ultra OC WD Raptor 36.7 GB HDD Thermaltake 480W PSU I am experiencing BSoDs from WinXP Pro, that include Page Fault In Non Paged Area and other memory related errors. These occur on starting or exiting programs, and on startup/shutdown of windows. The system is also very laggy, even though it is a clean windows install with only one additional program installed (StarCraft, since I can't get the system to load much else currently). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wired
Try setting your Ras to Cas delay to 3 @ 2.75 volts, otherwise test each stick in each slot with memtest.org
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 20, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 20, 2004 Please make sure you have the modules on slot 1&3 and that you have the latest BIOS installed in your MB; load optimized/optimal default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; Advanced Chipset: Memclock Mode: Manual (400) Bank Interleaving: 4/Enabled Burst Length: 8 SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T Frequency Voltage Control: Spread Spectrum: Enabled CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! SwordMage
I just got back from holiday leave, and when I returned, I was unable to get my computer to boot into windows (it ran fine for the few hours I had it up before I left with the settings you told me to use), and so first tried running MemTestx86, which ran through two passes, with no errors. After this, I attempted to reinstall windows, but kept getting memory related install errors at different points. I've absolutely no clue what's wrong at this point, any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2005 Well if you are not getting errors with http://www.memtest.org that would suggest some other problem, but I have no problem replacing your modules if you like. Please follow the directions under "I think I have a bad module" under this forum or if you have trouble, Please send us a email with a copy of the form or all of your info name address and phone# and the Module part# and copy the link to this post and email it to Rma@corsairmemory.com. If after 1 day or 24 hours excluding weekends you do not get the rma please email the same to warranty@corsairmemory.com and we will help to resolve it. SwordMage
I'm going to try the latest version of MemTest, and get back to you again. Thanks again.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2005 You might try another PSU just to test with if you can barrow one, that might help isolate the problem. But we can try replacing the modules as well.
