h100i GTX fan speed flickering

Hi, on any cooler fan speed setting my fan speed will flicker (as per Corsair Link info). For example on quiet mode in less than a second fan speed is changing back and forth between 480rpm and 540rpm. On performance mode between 960 and 900. Is that normal?

Even on a 40% fixed percentage mode it flickers between 600 and 660rpm.

I have swapped the fans for two Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120x120x25mm, 4-pin PWM, 1500/1200rpm Max, Focused Flow System fans so they are top quality fans. The resister is not in so they max at 1500rpm.

Note that this is just what Corsair Link is showing per its polling interval so the flickering may be actually happening and a faster rate. There is an osculating sound in the case and I don't know if it is pumps or not but pumps run at very fast speeds so maybe this is the fan speed flickering.

Hi,

I have same cooler like You and also Noctua fans on it (4x). I have the same fluctuation showing up in CL (the 60 rpm) even if set to 100%. But if You check the motherboard fan (what is the same fan rpm just read out through Your MB) than it´s not fluctuating (ok, some +/- 4 rpm, but it´s ok).

I have also the osculating noise what You described, it can be caused by the summary of the fans/pump/hdd-s ... as these are "vibrating" on different frequencies. Some frequencies are "killing" each other some make each other louder, as these meet in Your case are causing this osculating noise. There are some nice articles about these things on sites which are intended to silent PC builds and so on. In my case the "really low" osculating noise disappers when the fans are at around 1000 rpm (and higher).

Sorry for my bad english, I hope I wrote it understandable. The 60 rpm CL fluctuation ... leave it as it is (I think) ;)

BR,

Peter

Thanks Peter. That was excellent and helpful information.

I have changed my pump and fan now and I have also managed to mostly remove the osculation. Someone did say to me don't put two pumps in one case and I see now this is resonance (probably from the two pumps). Cheers

im experiencing the same speed fluctuations with my H100i that i have not seen before. I could remove everything again but i see im not the only one having this issue.

My question to Corsair is: Is this a know problem with the new software or is there a logical sollution for this? Turning off the software does not help unfortunatly.

Exactly which H100i?

If you use AIDA64, HWiNFO or SIV releases created after about 01-Aug-2016 then you should not get this for the H115i + H100iV2 + H80iV2, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=864594. For SIV you need 5.12 or later.

I expect you will still may them for the H110iGTX + H100iGTX + H80iGT as these have the older 2.4.0.0 or 2.3.0.0 firmware rather than the 2.8.0.0 firmware.

-H100i vers1 > on mini commander

That's a CoolIT cooler and there has never really been a protocol issue.

There were locking issues which we fixed a while ago. I know they are fixed in AIDA64 v5.75.3981 Beta, but can't recall AIDA version in which they were first fixed.

I suspect you need to ask on the AIDA64 forum.

My h115i noise problem is a bit different though (just swapped from h100i). if any 3D activity the fan will just speed up to something close to 100% with Link software running back and forth all day. and just one of the two fans does this?

Since this is only with the Link software running RMA is the last i would think of right now?

so you owned a perfectly working H100i and wanted to upgrade to dual 140mm fans some years later. And for this you order a brand new H115i for 150€ and now with the Link software it will keep doing the above all day long? And the solution is to RMA the device? Anything else will not help i guess thats why i am asking you again what to doing my case. Wait for new software or RMA the hole deal?
