fountainhead
Forgive me if I'm a little bit ignorant on RAM, but a few years back I bought a single stick of CGM2X2G800 2GB to use with a system I was messing around with. Seemed to work fine in conjunction with my existing pair of other RAM. The only thing was, I would run Nvidia demos just to test that the system is running smoothly and they would stutter like crazy, despite Windows and everything else running fine. Back then I figured it's because I need to use RAM in pairs. So I finally came across another stick of the same CGM2X2G800 and put it in. Same problem. Stuttering in the Nvidia demos and even a few graphical glitches in games that were definitely not present until I put in this RAM. (I've tried removing the CGM2X2G800 and the problems go away) Is there something I'm doing wrong here or something I need to set in the BIOS? The speed, timings and voltage all seem to be correct on automatic (800MHZ, 5-5-5-18 and 1.88v) and even when I manually select these values, nothing changes. If it helps, this is my motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X48-DQ6 Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
