My system:

Asus Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard

i7 6700k@4.6 GHz OC

16 GB DDR4 2800

Samsung 840 EVO 1 TB SSD

Asus BD/DVD R/W

Corsair H80i Cooler

Corsair AX 860i Power Supply

Corsair 230T Case

2x120mm case fan front

2x120mm case fan pull bottom, push top

Asus ROG Swift G-sync display

2xMSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

I am currently experiencing frame rate drops down to under 30 fps and hitching. I am wanting to upgrade my video card(s). I am considering the following options:

2xAsus Matrix GTX 980

2xAsus Matrix GTX 980 ti

1xAsus Matrix GTX 980 ti

Games like Planetside 2 are showing that my system is currently GPU limited. What is the best option? Can my system handle 2xGTX 980 ti? Will this solve my 3d performance issues?

Is this a PSU thread or a video card one?

Your questions is out of topic here. All we can say here is that AX860i can manage all your upgrades without problems.

Given that half my system was made by Corsair, asking for an opinion on video cards seems reasonable dont you agree?

One poster in the Asus ROG forums seems to think my PSU is not up to the challenge:

Accoring to the best PSU calculator I can find, I have about 200w of overhead on my psu.
