Finger
I have 2 sticks of this memory, and I cannot prime95 or keep my computer stable any more. Ive had this setup for about a year and a half with no problems. Now one of my sitcks is causing windows to bsod with page fault errors. What is very odd is that some games dont crash. HL2 does badly tho. Ive isolated the stick causing the problems, what do i do now?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 20, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 20, 2004 Can you tell me the exact model# of your memory module and please tell me if you purchased that module as a pair or set; also what is the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and its FSB as well? In addition, please tell me if you have the latest BIOS installed on your system and what BIOS settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Finger
I bought the memory seperately. One is 6 months older than the other. I'm using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. AMD 3200+ fsb of 400. CAS 2.5 3 3 8 the bios version is 1008, the latest as far as i know. As far as the exact version of memory, I'll need to know what im looking for, i thought CMX512-3200C2PT was the model. After I took out the bad stick, I placed a loaner stick in and the computer is working better than it has in a long time, im assuming the stick has been bad for a while. Thanks for your help! Finger
yeah, with the 2 sticks on those settings, somewhere between 200,000 errors, then I shut it off, its bad.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2004 If memtest86 found problems or errors on both memory modules, then I will suggest you to look at other hardware/peripherals installed on your system. I do not think the problem is coming from the memory modules, since the odds on getting two modules at the same time that will be bad is very unlikely to happen to any manufacturer! If you can please test the memory module in a friend or different system just to verify, then I would highly recommend you to do that.
Finger
oh i think i may have worded that badly. With both XMS modules in there it got that many errors, but with just my good stick of xms i got 0 errors.
