Ken429
The Link Icon does not appear on the Taskbar in W10 V1511. It seemed like it was working on day one but has since gone away. I have all the Taskbar Icons turn on in the: Properties>Taskbar and Start Menu Properties>Notification Area>Customize>Select which icons appear on taskbar>Always show all icons in the notification area>On Any idea on what I'm doing wrong or is this just normal? From my limited knowledge of the Link Software everything else appears to work correctly. Oops, when I have the "Run at Windows Startup" checked the Icon appears in the Taskbar. But when I uncheck the "Run at Windows Startup" and check "Start Minimized" the Icon does not appear in the Taskbar. Is this a bug or the way it is supposed to act? I definitely want the Icon on the Taskbar all the time!
Toasted
Open the LINK software, then right click the icon in the taskbar and click pin to taskbar. The Icon will now always be on the taskbar even when it is running in the background. If you are referring to the notifications tray (The icons next to the clock), what happens if you restart or load the software? Does the tray icon appear? I definitely want the Icon on the Taskbar all the time! By Taskbar I mean the notification area next to the clock. Yes, if I "Restart" Link (double click the Link Icon on the Desktop) I get an Icon in the Notification Tray (next to the clock). I also get the message that Link is already running. Same issue if I check both boxes in the Link Options "Run at Windows Startup" and "Start Minimized" I get the Link is already running but...I get the Icon in the Notifications Tray. And...as an added bonus I get the infamous Corsair H100 momentary Fan Roar and then all is well. That's the reason I quit using my original H100 fan controller! Anybody, is what I said above the way the Link software works or am I missing something? I really would like to have the Link software Icon in the Taskbar Notification Area without having to get the warning message and momentary fan roar. Ken429
I'll try for a response one last time. Maybe I'm expecting too much but...I've attached a screen shot of the Task Scheduler and it don't look anything like the Screen shot in the Link Q&A. I assume the startup tasks have changed since the Q&A was posted? Or am I doing something that causes the Taskbar Icon to only show if I check the "Run at Windows Startup" box? I can't believe I'm the only H100i GTX user that wants the Link Icon to show in the task bar without having to check both "Run at Windows Startup" and "Start Minimized" boxes and get the "already running" message and "fan test" every time I reboot? I impressed with the H100i GTX and the Link capabilities but I would like to get the Startup issues resolved before I buy more of them. Corsair tech support where are you? Toasted
"Run at Windows Startup" - Means the LINK software will start when Windows loads. "Start minimised" - The LINK software will start minimised but it will not start up on Windows login. You will need to tick "Run at Windows Startup" to see the icon in the notifications tray each time login to Windows. As for the fan roar everytime, after loading the LINK software and configuring your startup options, save the profile and see if that helps. Ken429
Ok, The fan roar is minimal and really not an issue like it was on the old H100 controller. But...what about the "already running" message? Seems like as soon a I check both boxes I get the Icon in the notifications area but I also get the already running message when I boot the system. Toasted
Unfortunately, That notification cannot be turned off. Corsair LINK v4 is coming out pretty soon, end of this month i think, so you way want to lookout for that. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=155019
Ken429
Thank you! I just wanted someone to confirm that it was a "feature" of the software and not something I was doing wrong. The current version of Link does some strange things occasionally based on what's running at the same time, like HWInfo64. But the H100i GTX controller, once setup using Link, appears to work and get the job done without the Link software. Is that a correct conclusion? I can't wait to play with V4. Based on all the comments I'm sure it will bring it's own set of issues!
