Threx
The "front left," "rear left," and "rear right," audio on my Corsair Void headset are all excellent. They sound as if the audio is coming a few feet from my head. The "front left," sounds as if the audio was coming from an actual speaker sitting a couple feet away from me, to my front left. However, the "front right" audio on the headset sounds like the audio is right next to my head. It doesn't have the spacial placement that the other positions have. Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried reinstalling CUE and drivers, but the problem persists. I also have the latest firmware. Since this is virtual surround, I doubt it's a hardware issue. If you're looking for a surround sound test file to test it out, you can try out the Halo surround test: http://halo.bungie.net/projects/reach/article.aspx Half way into the video it does the front right and front left test. If you have the same issue I do, you'll notice that the front right sounds right next to your head, while the front left sounds like it's coming from a couple of feet away. rainabba
This headset only has 2 speakers. The only way for a sound to "come from the wrong place" is for it to be rendered (processed for positional audio) incorrectly and the chances of that happening for only 1 channel/virtual-speaker without all audio being a mess is likely lower than you winning the lottery unless it's ONLY in a particular app where they may have the position for a set of sounds wrong. I downloaded the video you mentioned (which is actually 6 channels, so a good test). With Dolby Surround (Headphone Logic) on in the Corsair gaming software, I head Front-Right, Front-Left, Rear-Right, Rear-Left, Center then LFE; in that order using my VOID LE. Thank you for your reply. To clarify my situation, all my sounds -are- coming from the correct directions. The issue is the front right sound is coming from "pretty near me" while the front left sound is coming from "a few feet from me." I have this issue with every program/game I've tried. Think of it like if you had actual speakers on your desk, and you position the front right speaker a few inches from your head, while you position the front left speaker 2-3 feet away. The volume for both directions are equal, but the front right doesn't sound like it has a wide sound stage.
