Carbide Air 540

Seems this case has only just started appearing in the Australian market as best I can tell and nearly ticks all the boxes for me. Corsair George mentioned there was a possible revision or perhaps successors/larger models being considered; is there any update on that?

My main gripe is that I use a dual slot 5.25" bay reservoir along with a fan controller and BD burner - if the Carbide Air 540 was just that little bit wider it could accommodate horizontal 5.25" slots and likely more of them and some other goodies (perhaps a 240mm radiator on the back wall?).

The height is good just not the width and to me the point of a mid-tower cube is to save on vertical space - that is essentially offering what a full tower does but as a mid cube (it would likely be better than a standard full tower).

If the price went up to $260 for a wider cube (in Australia they are going for $195) I would happily pay for that. Perhaps a Corsair Obsidian Cube is in order?

Apologies for the thread necro but it seemed appropriate.

They have teased some surprises in the New Year, but I wouldn't expect too many hints. Given the price point for the Carbide 540, it was never intended to be a do everything kind of case. 4 bays would be a lot to ask when the rest of the world uses less and less 5.25 devices all the time. With very specific needs, you might look at Caselabs - something like a Mercury S8. However, that is clearly in another price realm and I suspect you might be punished further on exchange and shipping. But I do agree, I would like to see a cube shape in either the Obsidian or Graphite line. There are some cubes out there, but most are either small mini-ATX or lower end. There is a big gulf between that and Merc S8 waiting to be capitalized.

I suppose if I really need to I could go for a tube reservoir and risk the possibility of drilling mounting holes since if required; it's also money I'd rather spend towards the case too hehe. Oh well I'm not looking to do a new build until Broadwell-E is released so hopefully Corsair deliver the goods by then.

I've found a pretty serious contender and at the price range AU$260 which I mentioned before for something wider. Still not quite perfect but definitely shows to me Corsair can produce something in the price bracket I'm interested in. You can do it Corsair!
