Drvrguru
I have been running 1G TwinX CMX512-32002PT XMS3202v3.1 in the system I built last spring. Recently I have purchased my second set of 1G TwinX CMX512-32002PT and installed. System crashes while starting the start up programs. Reboots by its self. Now I have researched it and found the ctrl-F1 and tried to set my Lac. When running the first pair I have option of 2.5 and 3.0. System runs fine on either setting. New pair (which is XMS3202v5.1) has the option 2.0, 2.5, & 3.0. I have selected 2, 3, 3, 6 and +.1 dimm volts system runs fantastic. I have tried to put the v3.1 back in and the Lac option of 2.0 goes away. Any idea’s Gigabyte says that this ram is not compatible with this board. Corsair ram selector said this model would work. I won’t be able to send my original XMS3202v3.1 back because I have had it over 6 months. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2004 With this MB I would suggest you set the Dim Voltage to +.2 Volts: CAS Latency CL=2.5 Ras# to CAS# delay tRCD 3 Min Ras# Active Time tRAS 7 Row Precharge Time tRP 3 Then test the system with http://www.memtest.org and make sure it's stable! Drvrguru
I just set the Dim to +.2 and just about made it here to tell you it worked when the system locked up. At least it didn't reboot itself. Now I have boosted the volts to +.3. Seems to be more stable. I had the Internet Explorer crash once trying to get here, but maybe that was a fluke. Cas Lac gave me the options of 2.5 and 3.0 (I used 2.5). I thought it was strange there were no 2.0 options, just when I ran the newer ram by itself. I will be giving Battlefield Vietnam a try here in a minute. That will be a pretty good test in itself. Thanks :D:
Drvrguru
It still reboots when any thing strenuous in the memory department is going on. Any other ideas. :[pouts:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2004 Well we can try and replace the modules if you like, but I would try and test them in another system if you can. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
Drvrguru
I have tried each set in my wives computer they worked great, but she only has 3 Dimm sockets so I could only test 3 of them together(AMD Nforce3). Also keep in mind I can use each pair in my system, but I can't use the 2 pair together. Should I try to use any different settings? I just don't want to fry my MB (which is actually sounding good now). After reading other postings Gigabyte MB kinda suck, and seems like a lot of people have similar problems. I am not seeing any threads that get the problem fixed.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2004 I am sorry but the MB model you have listed does not show as a valid model # on Giga-Bytes Site. Can you check the model # and or tell me the chipset and CPU socket you have?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2004 Found it! GA-8IK1100 Rev 2.0 I would check the modules and make sure that both sets are exactly the same part# and revision.
Drvrguru
In my first thread I stated that the first set is TwinX CMX512-32002PT XMS3202v3.1. My newest set is TwinX CMX512-32002PT XMS3202v5.1. So I guess they probably are 2 different versions, now what can I do?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 20, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 20, 2004 You can try and manually set the timings to Cass 3-3-3-8 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 volts and then test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure its stable. But short of that all I can offer would be to RMA all four modules, but you would need to make it clear in the RMA request that need all four modules to be matched. Drvrguru
I tried what you said above and it failed the test. I RMA all 4 sticks and I just received them today (they where fast). All 4 are the same Version, but they keep failing. I think I pretty much tried all the different memory settings and they all failed. Works great with 2 sticks 2.5, 3, 3, 6, +.2v. I am going to start bugging Gigabyte again. I don’t like their theory that Corsair XMS isn’t compatible with there motherboard. They should have stated this in the manual or on there website in the proper location. Thanks for all your help Ram Guy. Dustin
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2005 Well I am sorry that you are having trouble, but I would maybe start looking for another MB. ASUS and ABIT and MSI all seem to run well with our modules! Also one other thing, with 4 modules you would need to consider 48 watts just for memory, so you may need to have a 450 Watt PSU or bigger depending on the system configuration. Drvrguru
Can you tell me if this motherboard would work with the 2 G of ram I have. It is the 4 modules of the version 4.1 listed above. My power supply says its a 450w. Abit IC7-G i875P P4 800FSB Skt478 DDR ATX Motherboard
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 7, 2005 As long as its the latest revison of IC7-G you should be fine!
Drvrguru
 :D: :o: I just recieved the Abit IC7-G and it has been running great with the 2 sets of 1G TwinX CMX512-32002PT. It COOKS It ROCKS. I am running 2 3 3 6 at +.1V or + .2V (I can't remember witch one I decided on). Is this to aggressive or should I turn it back to 3 3 3 8 where it was set by the BIOS. It cooked in to Battlefield Vietnam. I was the first to join each battle. Thanks for the recommendation of the Abit board.
