Adding 8GB of the exact same memory

I currently have 2x4GB sticks of XMS3 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 Desktop Memory (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) running on my DAW.

I am not having any success with replacing these with 2x8GB Vengenance DDR3 1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 memory CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9G.

My machine will not even start up.

So instead, does anyone see a problem with adding an additional 2x4GB sticks of (the exact same RAM) XMS3 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 Desktop Memory (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) giving me total of 16GBs of RAM which is the max that my OS (WIN 7 Home Premium) will recognize?

Don't go down that road yet. Mixing two memory kits together, even if exactly the same make, is likely to prove more difficult than solving the current 2x8 issue. Also, I suppose in theory you want to keep the number of internal components to the lowest possible number for your DAW application. Try booting the 2x8 kit one stick at a time at the JDEC 1333 speed to see if one or the other is responsible. Either way, I would return and try a different 2x8 kit before trying to match up two (2x4) kits.
