Biscuitt
Good morning folks, Last night my wife gave me the Corsair STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Brown (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/strafe-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-cherry-mx-brown). Nice keyboard, seems to work just fine. However, when I went to install the CUE it does not detect my device. I had an error pop up, so I updated my USB drivers, uninstall, rebooted, reinstalled CUE. No error this time, but I can't click on Profile and when I click on Device (under settings), it pulls up a blank screen. I've tried tried using it in a USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 slots. I even tried using an earlier edition of CUE - but it did not detect the device either. I've reviewed the stickied FAQ, and the only option I haven't tried under the section "Device Not Detected" is #5: Remove all HID devices. My questions: 1) I've never tried to uninstall anything from HID before - will windows automatically detect these items once I reboot? And is it just as simple as going to Device Manager and uninstalling/deleting? 2) My primary goal is to be able to use Macros and to update the firmware. Can I do these things without CUE detecting the device? I ask this, because my keyboard works just fine in every other way. Thank you for any help or advice you offer. terabyte
1) Yes, windows will detect the missing hardware as soon as you reboot. Or even just by clicking the refresh button in the device manager window. 2) No, CUE needs to be working in background and detect the Strafe keyboard for the macros/firmware update to work. Both are possible only from CUE itself.
Biscuitt
Thanks for the response. I'll remove the HID's when I get home from work and give that a shot. One other small question. I keep seeing numbers tossed around like K70, K65, etc. Is there another designation for the keyboard I linked other than Strafe? I know it's not the RGB version. Thank you! terabyte
K70 is the "higher" version of the Strafe, it has an aluminum body with dedicated multimedia keys and volume scroller (and it costs more of course :p:). Instead the K65 is a TKL keyboard based on the K70. Of those keyboards (just like the Strafe) there is also a RGB version which has RGB lighting and supports macros, animations and much more with CUE. Biscuitt
Another question, in researching my issues... I've read about this soft reboot to Bios for the keyboard by holding down the F1 key and the Windows lock key. Would this be something else I could try if removing the HID's in Device Manager doesn't work? It's just weird how Windows detects it, the keyboard is working fine, but CUE does not detect it. terabyte
No, that combination is to make the keyboard go into BIOS mode for compatibility with older motherboards that might not work unless you do that. It shouldn't be needed at all for the removing the HID entry, but if you won't to give it a try it shouldn't hurt anything either.
Toasted
Try the keyboard on another computer. Does CUE detect the keyboard normally?
