PG-Duke
I've got a system who runs fine. Now I bought a new ram and after I built it in my system it is not running any more or with lower busfrequences (lower than 333MHz). Alone the new ram is running fine. My system: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Gigabyte 7NNXP F20 4xDDR Dualchannel Corsair CMX 256A PC3200-LL Twinx ... The new ram: Corsair CMX 256A PC3200-C2 Twinx What is the problem? Aren't they running together? What can I do??
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2004 You can try and set the memory Freq at DDR333 and then set the Voltage to 2.7 Volts or +.2 Volts and set the timings to Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and then test with http://www.memtest.org. But you really should have memory that is matched for best performance.
PG-Duke
The problem is the bios, I can only change the frequency and the Voltage, not the timings. Should I try to change the sticks into LL? But I can't find anywhere Corsair CMX 256A PC3200LL Twinx in german online shops.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2004 At the main bios screen hit CNTRL + F1 and you should be able to set the timings. However, with GigaByte I would just let the bios set the memory timings and make sure that you have the latest bios. If you still have problems, I would try testing the modules in another system if you can.
PG-Duke
The ram is running fine but only alone. When I put in the old ram, the system is not running any more although I installed the newest Bios (F20). Perhaps the problem is the different timings: PC3200LL:2-3-2-6 PC3200C2:2-3-3-6 Or is that not important.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2004 Well yes that might be the issue. I am sorry but with this platform you cannot mix memory. They would need to be exactly the same both in part# and revision.
PG-Duke
What do you think: if i buy new pc3200ll rams will they run fine in my system??
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 15, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 15, 2004 I am not sure, but to be sure I would match what you have both in part# and revision. In other words if you have Twinx512-3200C2 Rev 1.2 then you would need to get a CMX512-3200C2 Rev 1.2 to match what you have. And the revision numbers do not apply to our Pro versions of the same modules, only PT or non PT XMS3200__!
PG-Duke
Isn't it better to change the PC3200C2 ram sticks versus PC3200LL. They would run better I think.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 15, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 15, 2004 What is the part# of the module you have now? And many MB's will not post or run properly unless the modules are matched. So I would have to say No! The best would be to find another use for what you have now and just get Twinx1024-3200XL for best performance.
