shegde
I just tried to add 256MG (Corsair VS256MB133a) to my computer (which has already 128MG RAM). The computer does not seem to recognize the new stick. According the computer manual, the total RAM alllowed is 512MB. What's the solution
CMC_SAVAGE
Is the 128 module PC133? The problem probably comes down to just mixing different RAM. The SPD of the modules could be different. If there is no options in the BIOS for RAM adjustments, then either it will work or it wont. Have you tried the Corsair module by itself?
shegde
I tried the Corair module bu itself - it still does not recognize it. What do you think I should do?
CMC_SAVAGE
On a hunch, I'll assume the BIOS is real basic with no advanced features. Here is a program that will help you identify the RAM that's in there now. If you still have tech support I'd call or browse their website for some info. If the BIOS has advanced features such as RAM adjustments there may be a possibility of getting it to work. Proprietary systems (Compaq, HP, E Machines, ect) are a hassle to upgrade. Sometimes it's just a hit or miss situation.
