Gem35
in terms of performance, which ram is faster at stock speeds: TWINX1024-4400C25 at 2.5-4-4-8 or TWINX1024-3200XL at 2-2-2-5 installed on an asus a8v mobo w/amd64 3000+ 939(winchester) also, which set of ram is a better choice to overclock this cpu to a moderate level ( I am looking to get this cpu from it's stock 1.8mhz to around 2.2mhz useing air cooling) thanks, -Gem p.s. performance in gaming specificaly
Yellowbeard
I replied to your other post. For gaming, the PC3200XL is the way to go. You can "probably keep them at the lowest latencies 2,2,2,5 up to about 220-225mhz. Mine would run 2,3,2,5 up to 225 on an Intel based system. Mike. Overclocked the 4400 will be faster because the 3200 will have to have the Timmings raised to overclock at the higher HTT settings the 4400 is capable of. TheCleaner
has anyone actually seen how much difference latencies make.. like from 2-2-2-X to 3-4-4-X.. its less that 5%.. though a massive FSB in 1:1 is the way to go.. and any ram capable of C2.5 @ pc4400 should be able to easily do C2 @ pc3200 speed my vote goes to the pc4400.. just so you know its never the ram limiting your OC
