Jkraghify
If the build is for gaming, look at the following NVIDIA -GTX 970 -GTX 980 AMD -R9 380 -R9 390 -R9 390X Compare benchmarks in games you play most often. For example, I play battlefield 4 so I would look at battlefield 4 benchmarks for a GPU if I were shopping today.

Jkraghify
Any of the above video cards will serve you well in AAA games at 1080p. Many of those cards would also run 1440p well.

MalcolmB
I suggest you look at the articles below on graphics cards, they should give some more information and help you find whats best for your budget. http://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-buy-a-graphics-card-six-things-you-must-know-about-gpus/ http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html Once you understand the system behind the GPU card numbers like 970, 980 etc it becomes a lot easier when researching.
