argonaut77
Hello, I recenly purchased some Corsair Value Select memory from a reseller. It is 512MB CAS 2.5 Value Select PC3200 (single stick). This was purchased with a new motherboad and AMD Sempron 3100+ processor. I was never able to keep the system up long enough between spontaneous restarts to get an operating system installed. Suspected the memory, but I sent the works back to the reseller, who tested it (?) then sent it back. Same memory, and same problem, now with the additional problem of an uncooperative reseller. I booted memtest86 and ran the default tests and came up with 140,000+ errors. Perhaps I have bad memory. What shall I do? I see that I must post here to start the return process through Corsair. Can I return this memory directly to Corsair? Please Help!
Wired
Yes, you can RMA it directly to Corsair, although with a new CPU and motherboard, it could be any of the 3. Best bet is to try the memory on a known good motherboard, see what happens.
argonaut77
Hello, I do not have a close-by friend that can accomodate PC3200 memory, so I purchased another bit of memory ("Buffalo" brand CAS2.5 generic) and swapped it for the Corsair Value Select. Using all the same bios settings and all the default memtest86 settings, the new stick of memory came up with 0 errors. This compares to 140,000+ errors for the Value Select. This is when each individual stick of memory is the only memory installed. Is this a conclusive test? Perhaps I have some defective memory? John L.
