corpbob
When I run the Corsair memory compatablility check for my son's (in college) Dell Inspiron XPS the only memory chips that show (2x 512 chips) are the 512 MB SODIMM (400) PC-3200 (CMSS512MB-400SD). Now am I correct in understanding this is not an XMS chip and, if so, is there any chance an XMS chip would work? From what I've read I'm sold on Corsair but since he's a dedicated games I'd like the best performance possible (within the budget of course). This XPS is a 3.4 gig P-4 purchased back in the Fall. I'll have to check the motherboard/chipset listing on the paperwork when I get home.
Wired
An XMS MAY work with it, however there's no way in a Dell system to change the memory timings, so you wouldn't notice the difference in the 2.
