ChrisDWilliams
It looks like I may have a problem with some memory. I am using Corsair TwinX 2x256MB modules parts CMX256A-3200LLPT and am receiving random reboots on my computer. I am using an Intel Desktop Board D875PBZ in conjunction with a P4 3.2 (Northwood) processor. The mainboard BIOS is set to detect and use SPD settings. Replacing the Corsair modules with Crucial Ballistix DDR400 sticks gives rock-solid results in the same machine. Slowing the Corsair down to 2.5-3-3-8 slightly increases stability. However, memory is rated at 2-2-2-6 T1. At this point, I would like to RMA unless Memory Guy has a suggestion. Thanks for your time and attention. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2004 Well XMS3200LL would be rated at Cass 2-3-2-6 with the Rass to Cass set to "3" and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.775 Volts as well. If you have an older version of this MB you may not have the option to set the Dim Voltage and the default from Intel is at 2.55 Volts and may not run with these modules. ChrisDWilliams
This MB does not have the option to increase voltage. Also, the DIMMs clearly state 2-2-2-6-T1 on the side. I would be glad to send you a photo of the memory sticks if this is in doubt. In any event, I still have random reboots with memory set to 2.5-3-3-8, so I feel it is appropriate to RMA the memory for Corsair to test unless you have additional thoughts. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2004 We can try replacing them, but again the suggested voltage at that setting would 2.75 Volts. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
