kettenhund
ok well mostly my problem is i cant get this board to post at all... nada nothing i am using these specs 550 w ps (that is more then needed to run this as in amps and such) MSI k8tneo fis2r version 1.1 bios athlon 64 3000 3x 512mb pc3200 (400) value select ram vs512mb400 (and lots of specs that dont count with what im asking) i need to know asap if this board will post with this ram. as i get nothing with it and i cant get to a point where i can see if its the ram or not... msi does not list this as supported. corsair says it is supported on their automatic lookup thing... if it is supported is there a issue where i may not get it to post (only using 1 stick btw) and if there is a issue like that... can you recomend a xms stick that will let me do it cause i need to be able to exchange this at tigerdirect and thats about all they carry that i think might work thats made by corsair (i dont want to try anything else). and it needs to work with the version 1.1 bios as i am not comfortable redoing it. thank you for your time. Wired
http://compatible.corsairmemory.com/memorysearch.aspx?modelid=582 Like you said, it's compatible. Does it not boot with only one stick?
kettenhund
no no boot at all.. in fact no post at all... nothing.... im getting to the point where i think that perhaps this board might be compatiable with corsair vs however perhaps it just wont post the first time with it.. which i cant fix because i only use corsair products (im hoping this isnt the issue) however im going to be safe and since it looks like i got a week or so to kill on it... ill rma the board and processor and make sure they both work.. if they do ill have to say its the ram... thats kinda why id like to get input from someone with that same board that got a post from a new install with some type of corsair ram so if its a conflict with VS i could use XMS or something i can get on exchange from tigerdirect.... any input? kettenhund
also i have 4 sticks of vs512mb400CL2.5 and i tried all of them.. in slot 1 or 3 (one at a time of course) trying to get post... thats kinda why im leaning to thinking a incompatibility or bad mb/cpu
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2004 These modules are indeed compatible; I have this MB running these modules in our lab and have been from some time. And the fact you have 4 modules and get the same result would suggest it may be some other issue. I would try and clear the bios with just one module installed and see if you can get it to post. And you can test the modules in another system. as that would help isolate the memory from your system.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2004 Well it’s not unusual with a new MB not to post until, the bios is reset. So I would try and clear the bios with the power disconnected and the battery removed and then see if it will post just to be sure. But no the system should post just sometimes the bios needs a little help by smack-in it on the bottom so to speak.

kettenhund
hey, yeh, just checking back in.... since i can say its not the ram i rma'd the mb and processor... so now this company claims i never sent it back and they are jerking me around all over. all i can say to you all is never buy anything from http://www.pcboost.com. even though they have a pretty good feedback on pricewatch. they are just not doing anything. they wont help at all. they claim also that since i paid for pretest that it worked when they sent it out. which is a lie... point blank... cause it was packaged very well yet still doa. so as it is now i have 1500 bucks worth of crap for a computer with no mb or cpu. go figure......... if and when i get that board back i will come back and let you know whats going on with it. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 3, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 3, 2005 I am sorry you are having trouble with them. Do you have tracking information when you shipped it back to them. POD or proof of Delivery will go a long way with these kinds of issues.
Wired
Pricewatch should only be used as a site to check prices, NOT ratings. That's what resellerratings.com is for! http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1957.html Doesn't look too good...
kettenhund
yeh i know lol, anway, i spent the last week calling them every day at 1200 noon and screaming at them to give me something that works. it worked and they are mailing out the new MB and Processor tomarrow. they told me that the board and cpu were dead. that they dindnt know why but neigther worked in any way. kinda make me feel good they dont know at all since i spent like 4 days with 3 hours sleep trying to figure this out ... anyway, should be here by the 15th or so (i would hope) and ill let you know how it goes. btw, is there any info i should know about this ram and this mb? like any known problems you may have incounterd while setting up this board with this ram? thanks for your help also, you guys are a great company...thats why i buy from ya. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2005 If you have 3 modules installed on a socket 754 systems, I would highly recommend you to use only 2 modules instead of 3; since it will only hurt the performance of the system if you have a double sided memory modules installed, which you do; since any 512MB or above are only made in a double sided module. Anyways if you have 3 double sided modules installed in it, it will only run at a PC1600 speed, and if you have 3 single sided memory modules; the maximum speed it will run the modules will be PC2700 speed.
