gbohn
Hi; I am looking to put together a system, and want to end up with 2 GB of RAM at 400 MHz/PC3200 on an Athlon 64 939 system (such as Epox EP-9NDA3+ or MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum nForce 3 chipset). I want to run at PC3200 speed (no overclock), but with low latency for faster performance. Is this best done as four 512 Modules (apparently at 2T from some reviews I've seen) or as two 1 GB modules (1T, but probably slower CAS, etc)? For example, would two TWINX1024-3200XL kits (4 x 512) be slower/faster than one TWINX2048-3200C2 ( 2 x 1024 )? From the docs, it look to me as though the four DIMMS from two TWINX1024-3200XL would run 2T, 2-2-2-5 and the TWINX2048-3200C2 would run 1T, 2.5-3-3-6. Which is really faster? Can four DIMMS really run 1T, 2-2-2-5 on an A64 939 motherboard? Thanks; -Greg
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2004 If you need 2.0 Gig of memory I would suggest you use Twinx2048-3200C2 for best performance, other wise you may have to run at DDR333.
