braccuglia
This weekend I started getting some random hard resets on my desktop system and occasional hangs. This system has been very stable since I built it in February this year. I brought home a bootable CD with Memtest-86 v3.2 and ran tests on the system last night. The test failed 10 times at the memory offset 244.7 MB into the module. I don't have another system that takes this type of memory and I only have one module in my system. I have a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394 motherboard with an AMD 2400 processor. I contacted the place where I purchased the memory but they said that I needed to call Corsair directly since it was passed their 30 day return policy. What do I do next? Thanks, Brian
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; CMX512-2700C2 Advanced Chipset Features (Ctrl + F1) DRAM Clock: 333 MHz Configure Dram timing by SPD: Disabled/User define SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Burst Length: 4 SDRAM Bank Interleave: 4/Auto/Enabled SDRAM Command Rate: 1T Frequency Voltage Control CPU Freq: 133 Memory or Dim Reference voltage: 2.7/2.75 Volts (+.2) AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure! braccuglia
I upgraded to all the latest drivers and BIOS for my motherboard and set all the BIOS settings as you described. I then reran memtest-86 and it failed 5 straight passes at the same offset as before. Should I return the module now for a replacement?
