chrispy
Is there any know problems with using 3.2 barton with XMS3200 (2-2-2-5) coz the system i built recently keeps crashing in games. i've temporaraly swapped the 3.2 to a 2.8 and its running fine now ?!?! By the way, the 3.2 is my own system at home at the moment and i'm not using Corsair, just unbranded. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2004 Please get the exact part# of the modules and can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

chrispy
Just been browsing the Compatibilty area..... Question : whats the difference between CMX5123200XL and CMX5123200XLPT, its says the 3200XL is compatible with my board but theres no mention of the 3200XLPT been compatible (which are the modules i have) Another question, when i bought the modules they werent sold as a matched pair, i just bought 2 the same. Will this make a big difference when i'm running the system in dual channel mode ? It seems i only have problems when running the system at 400mhz FSB with dual channel enabled (problem been crashing during game-play) Thanks in advance for any help/info with this matter. Chris. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2004 No they are the same module; only difference is the heat spreader color. You might try and set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and then test with http://www.memtest.org and I would try setting the Rass to Cass to "3" as well. If that does not solve the problem, then lets try replacing the memory. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! chrispy
Thanks, i will try what you suggest but as far as the memory been faulty...how come when the system is running with the 2.8 CPU there has been no problems ?
CandyKid
Are you saying it runs just fine with a 2.8CPU on a 400FSB in DUAL-CHANNEL? If that's true, it might be your mainboard and/or BIOS as the 3200's have had some issues with older boards. PLUR CK
chrispy
Right, i've changed the Ras to Cas delay to 3 but i cant change the Dimm voltage to 2.8 only 2.77 or 2.9 - Should i change it to 2.77 ? The system runs fine with a 2.8 in dual-channel on 333fsb, its when i put the 3.2 in and set it at 400fsb when i get problems.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 15, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 15, 2004 You may want to test the memory on another MB if you can.
