dswesse
I've had this RAM for about 6 months and from time to time I have had varying problems. Initially when I had the RAM in the Dual channels of my MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR motherboard I could not get through a windows XP install. After removing the second memory module, I was able to install succesfully. However, I am still unable to use the dual channel slot without recieving a blue screen of death. So after putting up with this for a while, i've started to get these failures during normal operation of XP. So tonight I ran the memtest 86+ program and it found somwhere around 10 failed addresses. Is this what is causing all of the problems? If so I need to get them RMA'ed. Thanks.
Wired
What is the exact part #? What CPU / FSB do you have?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your MB and load Setup/Optimized default settings, and try the following BIOS settings; TwinX1024 or TwinX512-3200 CPU Freq: 166 MHz (333 FSB) System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Resulting Frequency: 166 MHz (333 FSB) Memory Timing: User Define SDRAM CAS Latency: 3T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 8T DDR Reference Voltage: 2.7 Volts AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI (9200 or 9600) or NVIDIA (5200 or 5700) then 1.6 Volts suggested!* All other settings are motherboards defaults Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
dswesse
Just ran memtest again at the settings you said. 3-3-3-8 at 167Mhz(ddr334) there are no errors, but at 200MHz(ddr400) I get 414 errors. Is there anything else I should try, or is this a bad stick?
Wired
The problem is that you are trying to run the memory and FSB async of each other, which will cause errors on a completely good system. Test it on a 400 Mhz FSB CPU.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2004 This is a chipset limitation. If the FSB of your CPU is 400 For Intel and 100 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports only DDR 266. If the FSB of your CPU is 533 For Intel and 133/166 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 266/333 If the FSB of your CPU is 800 MHz for Intel and 200 MHz for AMD, the memory speed supports DDR 333/
