Manl
Hi, im having a problem with a new pair of Ram sticks i bought recently. I have 2 pairs of corsair memories. old RAM Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D XMS2-8500 2048MB 1066MHZ 5-5-5-15 2.10V ver1.1 new RAM Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D XMS2-8500 2048MB 1066MHZ 5-5-5-15 2.10V ver3.1 im using a P5Q pro motherboard and i can use the old DIMMs no problem, but its not the same with the newest pair. When i try it alone (without old DIMMS) the pc wont boot. No POST, no beeps, only a black screen and fans working. Is there something to do with the different chip versions or something? Are the sticks defective? I already tried one at the time but its no use.
Corsair Employees Greybeard Posted September 21, 2015 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 21, 2015 I doubt that it has something to do with the DRAM's version. So you have tired the new pair one at the time and each stick failed to boot? Do you know if your board has the latest BIOS version? And you are using the 2nd DIMM slot away from the CPU right? It should be the black DIMM slot. Try clearing your CMOS as well and see if that will help
