MrHappy
I have two TWINXCMX-512-3200C2PT (4 modules, 2GB total) that I purchased at separate times in the past year. The two pairs of modules played fine together on my Intel 875 mobo for most of that time. In the past two weeks, I moved these modules to my new MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum board. All was fine, until after a week or so when when my machine wouldn't POST. After troubleshooting, I believe I've isolated the problem to one of the memory modules. I did this by rotating the individual modules and installing them in pairs (1 GB total) and retesting (powering on). The PC will not post when the suspected module was in place (except for once, when I did get to the BIOS, but it soon froze before I could even navigate to view the settings). Please note there was no overclocking at all. Also, for the most part, the BIOS settings for memory have remained in default or auto settings. The exception was during the troubleshooting when I lowered the speed in an attempt to diagnose the problem. Still not POST with this module. Any suggestions before I RMA? Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 8, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 8, 2004 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.8 Volts and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. If you still get errors then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! MrHappy
Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned in my previous message, I haven't been able to get past (or even to) the POST, so I have doubts that I'll be able to run the memory tester. But I'll give it another go. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 10, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 10, 2004 I would try and reset the bios and then test them one module at a time, and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts. In addition if you are trying to run 4 modules or 2 sets of Twinx they will all need to be the exact same revision and part# or the system may not post or be stable and with many MB's more than 2 modules may require the memory be at DDR333. MrHappy
I followed your instructions and I was still not able to POST with the single suspected bad module. So it appears an RMA is in order. So in light of your last post about each set of TWINX needing to be "the exact same revision and part number," do I RMA both modules? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2004 Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! I would send it as a TwinX set if you bought it as a set, otherwise there will be no guarantee that the memory module that you will send to us will be replaced with the same revision.
