I have a VS1GBKIT400 lot#0423037-1 installed in an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe with an AMD XP2500+ running default timings (1837MHz CPU, 166MHz FSB, 200MHz memory bus, dual-channel, 2.5-3-3-8). memtest tells me that I have an error at 700.3MB and an error at 88.1MB. The errors shows up in every run, even after power-cycle. The stickers on the DIMMs read VS512MB400, lot#0423037-0. The memory was purchased at Tiger Direct in Markham, Ontario, Canada on July 20, 2004.

How do I proceed from here?

With a 333 FSB CPU you will have to run the memory at DDR333. If you try to run the memory at DDR400 with that CPU it will cause a bottleneck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not the fault of the memory. Sorry but this is a limitation of the chipset.

I pulled the 2500 and put in a 3200. Now it is running 2200MHz, 200MHz FSB, 200MHz memory bus. Same errors, same memroy addresses. By the way, neither processor has any trouble with the Kingston 512MB dual channel replacements I have been using while waiting for this Corsair problem to be resolved.

What's next?
