CMX512-C3200C2 Failing MemTest86+ In 3 Systems

RamGuy,

I have three systems at home and have been having problems with all of them over the past year. The only common hardware is the Corsair CMX512-C3200C2 memory that I've migrated through all three systems. The problems include unexplained random reboots, freezes, and errors running large installer files. Suspecting the ram might be the problem, I started using some Mushkin PC3200 Basic Green in System #3 (which currently used the Corsair) and the above symptoms evaporated.

I put MemTest86+ 1.40 on a bootable CD and proceeded to test the Corsair DIMMs (Dual Channel & Single Channel) in all three systems. I was surprised to find MemTest86+ spitting up errors on all three systems for one or the other, or both DIMMs, even with relaxed timings. Many of the address errors seem to reccur frequently. The Mushkin DIMMs have also been tested in the same systems without errors at SPD and relaxed timings. I'm pretty darn sure these particular Corsair DIMM's are bad, and would like to RMA them (You gave me a ticket # already, but I figured I should post this also).

I think we spoke on the phone this morning.

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

 Thanks... btw, it seems like one of the DIMMs fails MUCH more than the other, although they both have been turning up errors at SPD and less aggressive timings.

Thanks again,
